Introduction
The SFP transceiver enables system designers to achieve DC to 50 Mbaud data transmission over distances up to 2 km using (62.5 μm/125 μm) multimode fiber. The transceiver supports LC duplex connectors, is lead-free, and RoHS compliant. Using the two-wire serial interface defined in SFF-8472 MSA, the AFBR-57B4APZ provides real-time information on module temperature, transmitter supply voltage, and average receiver input power. The transmitter consists of an 850 nm Class 1 laser-compliant VCSEL and an integrated driver IC. The VCSEL driver operates at 3.3V. It accepts LVTTL electrical inputs and converts them into modulated current to drive the VCSEL. The VCSEL is housed in an optical subassembly. The optimized lens system of the optical subassembly couples the emitted optical power into multimode fiber with very high efficiency. The receiver employs a fully integrated single-chip solution with excellent EMI immunity and fast transient dV/dt suppression. The receiver directly converts optical signals into digital LVTTL/LVCMOS signals. The receiver operates at 3.3V. The transceiver package is compatible with the Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) MSA with LC duplex connector option. The hot-swap capability of the SFP package allows module installation while the host remains online. The transceiver requires a 3.3V DC supply for optimal performance.
