The GV7700 is a serial digital video transmitter for HD component video. With integrated cable drive technology, the device can transmit compressed video over 75Ω coaxial cable at 270Mb/s or 540Mb/s, or uncompressed video at 1.485Gb/s or 2.97Gb/s, and also supports differential transmission over 100Ω twisted-pair cable. The GV7700 integrates HD visually lossless codec technology, developed specifically to reduce the transmission data rate of HD video over coaxial and unshielded twisted-pair cables. This is achieved by encoding HD video — normally transmitted at a 1.485Gb/s serial data rate — down to the same 270Mb/s serial data rate used for SD video. At 270Mb/s, the impact of cable loss is significantly reduced, enabling longer cable transmission distances. For 75Ω coaxial cable, this technology allows HD signals at 1.485Gb/s to be transmitted over distances three times greater than normal. In a typical coaxial cable video installation, cable transmission distances exceeding 550 meters can be achieved when paired with a compatible receiver. Similarly, using this technology, a 3G signal at 2.97Gb/s can be transmitted at 540Mb/s. The device can also be configured to transmit HD and 3G video over UTP cables such as Cat-5e and Cat-6, encoded at 270Mb/s and 540Mb/s respectively. The device supports YCbCr 4:2:2 BT.1120 component digital video at 8-bit and 10-bit per pixel. It provides a configurable 20-bit or 10-bit wide parallel digital video input bus, along with associated pixel clock and timing signal inputs. The GV7700 supports direct interface with HD video formats compliant with ITU-R BT.709 and BT.1120-6 (for 1125-line formats) and SMPTE ST 296 (for 750-line formats). The GV7700 features an audio embedding core that supports embedding up to 4 channels of I²S serial digital audio within the ancillary data space of the video data stream. The audio embedding core supports sample rates of 32kHz, 44.1kHz, and 48kHz. The GV7700 supports insertion of ancillary data into the horizontal blanking interval of the video data stream. User data can be programmed via the GSPI interface, enabling communication from video source devices to downstream receiving devices. The ancillary data packet format complies with the HDcctv 2.0 communication protocol. The GV7700 is housed in a space-saving 84-pin dual-row QFN package, making it ideal for single-PCB security cameras requiring high-density component placement. The device typically consumes only 180mW, requiring no special thermal management or airflow provisions, thereby reducing the overall cost of HD security camera designs.
