TI TCA9548APWR

The TCA9548A device features eight bidirectional translating switches controllable via the I²C bus. The serial clock/serial data (SCL/SDA) upstream pair can be expanded to 8 downstream pairs or channels. Any single SCn/SDn channel or combination of channels can be selected based on the contents of the programmable control register.

When a timeout or other improper operation occurs, the system master can reset the TCA9548A by driving the RESET input low. Similarly, a power-on reset deselects all channels and initializes the I²C/SMBus state machine. Asserting RESET also performs a reset and initialization without requiring the device to be powered down.

The switches have pass-gate circuitry, allowing the VCC pin to limit the maximum high voltage passing through the TCA9548A. Limiting the maximum high voltage allows different bus voltages to be used on each channel pair, enabling 1.8V, 2.5V, or 3.3V devices to communicate with 5V devices without any additional protection. For each channel, external pull-up resistors pull the bus voltage up to the desired voltage level. All I/O pins are 5V tolerant.
