The TPL5010 nano-timer is a low-power timer with watchdog function, which is well-suited for system wake-up in duty-cycle or battery-powered applications. In such systems, a microcontroller timer can be used to wake up the system. However, if the timer has a high sleep current, the microcontroller timer can consume up to 60 - 80% of the total system current in sleep mode. The TPL5010 only consumes 35nA of current and can replace the integrated microcontroller timer to perform the corresponding functions, allowing the microcontroller to operate in a lower power consumption mode. This energy-saving feature can significantly reduce the battery size, so the TPL5010 is highly suitable for energy harvesting or wireless sensor applications. The TPL5010 offers selectable time intervals from 100ms to 7200s, making it suitable for interrupt-driven applications. For safety reasons, certain standards (such as EN50271) require the implementation of a watchdog function. The TPL5010 not only implements the watchdog function but also adds almost no additional power consumption. The TPL5010 comes in a 6-pin Small Outline Transistor (SOT23) package.
