The ADM3053 is an isolated Controller Area Network (CAN) physical layer transceiver with an integrated isolated DC/DC converter, compliant with the ISO 11898 standard. The device employs iCoupler technology to integrate a dual-channel isolator, a CAN transceiver, and an isoPower DC/DC converter in a single SOIC SMT package. An on-chip oscillator generates a pair of square waves to drive an internal transformer that provides an isolated power supply. Operating from a single 5 V supply, the device delivers a fully isolated CAN solution. The ADM3053 creates a fully isolated interface between the CAN protocol controller and the physical bus layer. It supports data rates up to 1 Mbps. The device features current limiting and thermal shutdown to protect against output short circuits. Rated for the industrial temperature range, it is available in a 20-lead wide-body SOIC package.
