The PCM510xA devices belong to a monolithic CMOS integrated circuit family and consist of a stereo digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and additional support circuitry in a thin shrink small-outline package (TSSOP). The PCM510xA devices use TI's latest generation of advanced segmented DAC architecture products, which can achieve excellent dynamic performance and improve tolerance to clock jitter. With DirectPath charge pump technology, the PCM510xA devices provide a 2.1 VRMS center-tapped output (eliminating the need for DC-blocking capacitors on the outputs for designers) and the external mute circuitry traditionally associated with single-supply line drivers. Each pin of the integrated line driver supports loads as low as 1 kΩ, outperforming all other charge-pump-based line drivers in terms of performance. The integrated PLL on the device eliminates the need for a system clock (commonly referred to as the master clock), enabling a 3-wire I2C connection and reducing system electromagnetic interference (EMI). A dual-layer system of intelligent clock error and PowerSense undervoltage protection eliminates clicks and pops.
