Introduction
The DAC7750 and DAC8750 (DACx750) are fully integrated, low-cost, precision 12-bit and 16-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) designed to meet the requirements of industrial process control applications. These devices can be programmed to provide current outputs in the ranges of 4 - 20mA, 0 - 20mA, or 0 - 24mA. The DACx750 includes reliability features such as CRC error checking on the SPI frame, a watchdog timer, open-circuit, compliance voltage, and thermal alarms. Additionally, the output current can be monitored by accessing an internal high-precision resistor. These devices include a power-on reset function to ensure that the device powers up in a known state (IOUT is disabled and in a high-impedance state). If the output is enabled, the CLR pin sets the current output to a low level. The zero and gain registers are programmed to digitally calibrate the device within the end system. The output conversion rate can also be programmed via registers. These devices can superimpose an external HART signal on the current output and are powered by a 10V to 36V supply.
