Introduction
The CA-IS2092x series are isolated RS-485/RS-422 transceivers with an integrated isolated DC-DC converter, eliminating the need for a separate isolated power supply in space-constrained isolated designs. All devices in this series feature logic input and output buffers separated by a silicon dioxide (SiO2) insulation barrier, providing galvanic isolation up to 3.75kV rms (60 seconds) and a typical common-mode transient immunity of ±150kV/μs. The isolation improves data communication by breaking ground loops and reduces noise when significant ground potential differences exist between ports. The integrated DC-DC converter generates a 3.3V or 5V operating voltage for the cable side. The CA-IS2092x series is designed for multipoint operation, with bus pins offering high ESD protection up to ±20kV HBM. The receiver has a 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 transceivers (loads) to be connected on a common bus. These devices provide half-duplex transceivers, where driver and receiver enable pins allow any node to be configured as transmit or receive mode at any given time, reducing cable requirements. The CA-IS2092VW's dedicated logic supply input enables full compatibility with 2.5V to 5.5V logic levels on logic input/output lines. The CA-IS2092x series is available in a wide-body 16-pin SOIC package — the industry-standard isolated RS-485/RS-422 package — with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
