Introduction
The LTC2921 and LTC2922 monitor up to 5 power supplies and force them to track during power-up in multi-supply systems. External N-channel pass elements allow supply voltages to ramp up at an adjustable rate. Automatic remote sense switches enable DC/DC converters to compensate for series voltage drops on the PCB traces. If a fault level occurs on one or more supplies, all supplies are disconnected. Up to 1% accuracy and noise immunity at monitoring levels as low as 0.5V prevent inadvertent supply disconnection. Both the LTC2921 and LTC2922 feature an adjustable electronic circuit breaker to protect the VCC supply from short-circuit faults. A capacitor on the TIMER pin sets the delay in the monitoring sequence. The LTC2921 integrates 3 remote sense switches in a 16-pin narrow SSOP package, while the LTC2922 integrates 5 remote sense switches in a 20-pin TSSOP package. Both devices support VCC supply voltages of 5V, 3.3V, and 2.5V.
