These SGX sensors employ a revolutionary innovation in electrochemical sensing technology, capable of detecting output signals generated by electrochemical reactions of various gases and precisely measuring gas concentration based on signal magnitude. These specialized sensors consist of three catalytic electrodes, a liquid electrolyte, and gas diffusion apertures. Gas reaches the working electrode of the sensor through the diffusion apertures, where an electrochemical reaction occurs at the so-called three-phase boundary, generating a current signal at the output that is linearly proportional to the gas concentration.
