Introduction
The S-35199A01 is a CMOS 3-wire real-time clock IC featuring ultra-low operating current consumption and a wide operating voltage range. With an operating voltage range of 1.3V to 5.5V, this IC is compatible with a variety of power sources, from main supplies to backup batteries. The combination of 0.34μA current consumption and a wide supply voltage range in timekeeping mode significantly extends battery life. In systems powered by a backup battery, the built-in free registers can serve as backup memory for the user. Information stored in the registers before the main power is turned off can be retrieved at any time after voltage is restored.
This IC features a clock data correction function for advancing or retarding the clock, with a wide correction range to compensate for errors caused by frequency deviations in the oscillator circuit. By combining this function with a temperature sensor to perform corrections based on temperature variations, highly accurate timekeeping independent of ambient temperature can be achieved. The IC also provides a sub-clock output for external MCUs, capable of outputting 32.768 kHz clock pulses. For this output, users can select either N-channel open-drain or CMOS output.
In addition, this IC incorporates a 24-bit binary up-counter. Starting from power-on, the counter increments once every 60 seconds, enabling users to track cumulative elapsed time of up to 30 years from initial power-on.
