Introduction
The ADuM3480/ADuM3481/ADuM3482 are quad-channel digital isolators based on iCoupler technology. These isolation devices integrate high-speed CMOS with monolithic air-core transformer technology, offering superior performance characteristics over alternative devices such as optocouplers and other integrated couplers. Typical propagation delay is reduced to 25 ns, with pulse width distortion halved accordingly.
The 4 channels of the ADuM3480/ADuM3481/ADuM3482 support multiple channel configurations and two data rates up to 25 Mbps. All devices are powered by separate core and I/O supplies. The core operates from 3.0 V to 5.5 V, while the I/O supply supports a voltage range of 1.8 V to 5.5 V. If operation within the core voltage range is sufficient, the two supplies can be connected together for single-supply operation. When the I/O needs to interface with logic levels different from the core supply voltage, the I/O supply can operate independently of the core supply over a wider range. The minimum I/O supply voltage is 1.8 V, compatible with low-voltage logic. Normal operation requires both the core and I/O supplies to be powered simultaneously.
