Introduction
LM217L/LM317L are adjustable 3-terminal positive voltage regulators capable of supplying up to 100mA over a 1.2V~37V output voltage range. These regulators are exceptionally easy to use, requiring only two external resistors to set the output voltage. Internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe operating area compensation make them essentially blow-out proof. The LM217L/LM317L serve a wide range of applications, including local regulation and on-card regulation. These devices can also be used to make programmable voltage regulators, or by connecting a fixed resistor between the adjustment pin and the output, to function as precision current regulators.
