Introduction
This device is a 1A single-cell lithium-ion battery linear charger with input voltage tolerance up to 36V and input overvoltage protection, operating in constant current/constant voltage charging mode. The CE, TEMP, CHRG, and STDBY pins also support a maximum voltage rating of 36V. The device employs an internal PMOSFET architecture with integrated reverse-current protection, eliminating the need for an external blocking diode. Its thermal feedback mechanism adaptively adjusts the charge current to limit the charging current under high-power operation or high ambient temperature conditions. The termination float voltage is available in two options: 4.2V and 4.35V. The charge current is set via an external resistor. When the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value after reaching the final float voltage, the device automatically terminates the charge cycle. When the input voltage is removed, the device automatically enters a low-current state, reducing battery leakage current to below 0.1uA. Additional features include battery temperature monitoring, CE enable input control, undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and two LED status pins for indicating charging and end-of-charge states. The device is available in ESOP8 and DFN-8 (2×2) packages with an exposed thermal pad on the bottom, suitable for USB power and adapter power applications.
