The LM2576 series is a monolithic IC designed for step-down DC/DC converters, capable of driving a 3A load without external transistors. It saves board space. The external shutdown function can be controlled by logic level to put the device into standby mode. The internal compensation design provides good line and load regulation for feedback control without external design. For protection features, thermal shutdown prevents damage from overheating, and the current limiting function prevents the output switch from operating in an overcurrent condition. If the current limiting function is triggered and VFB drops below 0.5V, the switching frequency will be reduced. The LM2576 series operates at a switching frequency of 52KHz, so the required filter component size is smaller than when using low-frequency switching regulators. Other features include a guaranteed output voltage tolerance of ±4% and an oscillator frequency tolerance of ±10% under specified input voltage and output load conditions. The IC is available in TO263-5L and TO220-5L packages.
