Introduction
This 8-bit non-inverting bus transceiver is a bidirectional voltage-level translator designed to establish digital switching compatibility between mixed-voltage systems. It features two independently configurable supply rails, with V_CCA and V_CCB each supporting an operating voltage range of 1.65V to 5.5V. The A port, DIR, and OE (overline) pins are referenced to the V_CCA supply, while the B port is referenced to the V_CCB supply. This enables support for both lower and higher logic signal levels, providing bidirectional translation capability across 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5.5V voltage nodes. The device is designed for asynchronous communication between two data buses. The logic levels on the direction control input and output enable input activate either the B port outputs or A port outputs, or place both output ports in a high-impedance state. When the B port outputs are activated, the device transfers data from the A bus to the B bus; when the A port outputs are activated, data is transferred from the B bus to the A bus. The input circuits on both A and B ports are always active and must be driven to a logic-high or logic-low level to prevent excessive I_CC and I_CCZ currents. The device is fully specified for partial power-down applications using I_OFF. The I_OFF circuit disables the outputs to prevent destructive current backflow when the device is powered down. The V_CC isolation feature ensures that if either V_CC input is at GND, all outputs will be in a high-impedance state. To maintain a high-impedance state during power-up or power-down, OE (overline) should be connected to V_CC through a pull-up resistor, with the minimum resistor value determined by the current-sinking capability of the driver. The control pins of this device are powered by V_CCA. The operating ambient temperature range is -40°C to +125°C.
