Introduction
The UMW TCA9546 series is a 4-channel bidirectional data transfer switch controlled by the I²C bus. The upstream host selects one or more downstream devices via the SCL and SDA pins and performs the specified data transfer. The series supports any combination of downstream channel selection. The UMW TCA9546 series provides an active-low reset pin RESET. If the downstream I²C bus becomes locked up, pulling the RESET pin low resets the device, deselecting the downstream and releasing the locked I²C bus. The series allows upstream and downstream devices to transfer data across voltage domains. In this case, the supply voltage VCC of the series limits the minimum allowable pass-through voltage VPASS for upstream and downstream transfers. This feature allows upstream and downstream devices to interact across 1.8V, 3.3V, and 5.0V voltage domains without additional protection. When using this feature, ensure that the I²C bus of each upstream and downstream channel is connected to its respective supply voltage via a pull-up resistor RP. All pins of the series have a voltage tolerance of 5.5V.
