Introduction
CA‐IS372xC is a cost-effective, two-channel digital isolator with precise timing characteristics and low power consumption. When isolating CMOS digital I/O, CA‐IS372xC devices provide high electromagnetic immunity and low emissions. All device versions feature Schmitt trigger inputs for high noise immunity. Each isolation channel uses a silicon dioxide (SiO₂) insulating barrier between the logic input and output buffers. The CA‐IS3720C has two forward channels, the CA‐IS3721C has one forward channel and one reverse channel, and the CA‐IS3722C has the opposite channel ordering from the CA‐IS3721C — one reverse channel and one forward channel. All devices offer a failsafe mode option. If the input-side power supply fails or the signal is lost, devices with the suffix L default to a low output, while devices with the suffix H default to a high output.
CA‐IS372xC devices feature high isolation capability, helping to prevent noise and surges on data buses or other circuits from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuitry. High CMTI capability ensures correct transmission of digital signals. CA‐IS372xC devices are available in 8-pin narrow-body SOIC, 8-pin wide-body SOIC, and 16-pin wide-body SOIC packages. Narrow-body package devices are rated at 3.75kVrms isolation voltage, while wide-body package devices support up to 5kVrms isolation voltage.
