Introduction
The NID5100-Q100 is an integrated ideal diode designed to replace conventional diodes in low-voltage systems where the high forward voltage drop of traditional Schottky devices is unacceptable. When enabled and forward-biased, it regulates the voltage between the IN and OUT pins, producing a forward voltage drop VREG approximately one order of magnitude lower than a Schottky diode with a similar current rating. When the OUT voltage exceeds the IN voltage, the NID5100-Q100 enters a reverse-biased state with extremely low leakage current. The integrated reverse polarity protection prevents damage to components connected to the OUT pin in the event of a reversed supply voltage. The enable pin EN determines whether the NID5100-Q100 operates in forward regulation mode or body diode mode. To provide system flexibility, multiple power supply configurations are supported: two or more NID5100-Q100 devices used in combination; an NID5100-Q100 combined with a conventional Schottky diode; or an NID5100-Q100 combined with an external PMOS. The open-drain status pin ST is high-impedance when the NID5100-Q100 is enabled and conducting in the forward direction, and is driven low when disabled or under reverse-bias conditions. The ST pin can be used to control an external PMOS to OR an additional power supply, or connected to a microcontroller to indicate the NID5100-Q100 status. The device is housed in a standard TSSOP6 package with dimensions of 2.1 mm × 1.25 mm × 0.95 mm, compatible with the industry-standard SC88/SC70-6 package, offering a smaller PCB footprint than conventional low-current diodes. This product is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.
