Introduction
TPS7A14 is a small ultra-low dropout regulator (LDO) with excellent transient response. The device delivers 1A of current with outstanding AC performance (load and line transient response). The input voltage range is 0.7V to 2.2V, the output range is 0.5V to 2.05V, with 1% ultra-high accuracy across load, line, and temperature ranges.
The main power path runs through the IN pin, which can be connected to a supply at least 50mV above the output voltage. All electrical characteristics — including excellent output voltage tolerance, transient response, and PSRR — are specified at an input voltage 100mV above the output voltage, enabling high efficiency. The regulator uses an external higher VBIAS voltage rail to power the LDO's internal circuitry, supporting very low input voltages. For example, the IN pin supply voltage can be the output of a high-efficiency DC/DC buck regulator, while the BIAS pin supply voltage can come from a rechargeable battery.
The TPS7A14 features an active pull-down circuit that rapidly discharges the output when it is disabled, providing a known startup state.
The TPS7A14 is available in an ultra-compact 0.71mm × 1.16mm, 6-bump DSBGA package, making it ideal for space-constrained applications.
