Introduction
The S-82P1A series is a protection IC for lithium-ion/lithium-polymer rechargeable batteries, incorporating a high-accuracy voltage detection circuit and delay circuit. It is designed to protect single-cell lithium-ion/lithium-polymer rechargeable battery packs against overcharge, overdischarge, and overcurrent damage. By using an external overcurrent detection resistor, the series achieves high-accuracy overcurrent protection with minimal sensitivity to temperature variations. The series also features input pins for charge/discharge control signals, enabling charge/discharge control via external signals.

- High-precision voltage detection circuit: overcharge detection voltage range 3.500V to 4.800V (5mV steps), accuracy ±15mV; overcharge release voltage range 3.100V to 4.800V, accuracy ±50mV; overdischarge detection voltage range 2.000V to 3.000V (10mV steps), accuracy ±50mV; overdischarge release voltage range 2.000V to 3.400V, accuracy ±75mV; discharge overcurrent detection voltage 1 range 3mV to 100mV (0.25mV steps), accuracy ±2mV; discharge overcurrent detection voltage 2 range 20mV to 100mV (1mV steps), accuracy ±5mV; load short-circuit detection voltage range -100mV to -3mV (0.25mV steps), accuracy ±0.75mV; charge overcurrent detection voltage.
- Detection delay time generated solely by internal circuitry (no external capacitor required).
- Charge/discharge control function: CTL pin control logic active-high or active-low; CTL pin internal resistor configuration pull-up or pull-down; CTL pin internal resistance 1MΩ to 6MΩ (1MΩ steps).
- Discharge overcurrent control function: discharge overcurrent state release condition load disconnection; discharge overcurrent state release voltage VRIOV = VDD × 0.8 (typ.).
- Discharge overcurrent state reset via CTL pin: available or not available.
- Zero-volt battery charging function: enabled or disabled.
- Power-down function: available or not available.
- High withstand voltage: VM pin and CO pin maximum rating 28V.
- Wide operating temperature range: Ta = -40°C to +85°C.
- Low current consumption: 2.0μA typ., 4.0μA max. during operation (Ta = +25°C); 50nA max. during power-down (Ta = +25°C); 0.5μA max. during overdischarge (Ta = +25°C).
