Introduction
CY2081 is a general-purpose clock synthesizer designed for modem, disk drive, CD-ROM drive, video CD player, gaming, set-top box, and data/telecom applications. The device is available in an 8-pin 150-mil SOIC package, providing three configurable clock outputs and supporting either 3.3V or 5V supply operation. The on-chip reference oscillator supports crystals from 10 MHz to 25 MHz, and reference clocks from 1 MHz to 30 MHz are also accepted. An output control pin (Pin 8) is configurable as output enable, power-down, frequency select, or suspend input. The CY2081 provides three clock outputs — CLKA, CLKB, and CLKC — at any frequency within the specified range, with the reference frequency also accessible at any output. The device can replace multiple metal-can oscillators in synchronous systems, saving manufacturers cost and board space, making it ideal for compact applications requiring multiple accurate and stable clocks synthesized from a low-cost source.
