The CYM1846 is a high-performance 16-megabit SRAM module organized as 512K words × 32 bits. The module consists of four 512K × 8 SRAM die in SOJ packages mounted on an epoxy laminate substrate. Four chip select signals are used to independently enable each of the four bytes. By using the chip select signals appropriately, read and write operations can be performed on any combination of individual bytes or multiple bytes. The CYM1846 is designed for standard 72-pin SIMM sockets and ZIP packages. The pinout is compatible with the 64-pin JEDEC ZIP/SIMM module family (CYM1821, CYM1831, CYM1836, and CYM1841) as well as the 72-pin CYM1851. Therefore, a single motherboard design can accommodate memory depths ranging from 16K words (CYM1821) to 1024K words (CYM1851). The standard SIMM can be used in tilted SIMM sockets, with edge contacts available in either tin-lead or 10 microinch gold plating. Presence detect pins (PD₀ - PD₃) are used to identify the memory density of the module in applications where modules of different word depths are interchangeable.
