Introduction
ESP32-S3-WROOM-1 and ESP32-S3-WROOM-1U are two general-purpose Wi-Fi + low-power Bluetooth MCU modules built around the ESP32-S3 series chip. In addition to rich peripheral interfaces, the modules feature powerful neural network computing and signal processing capabilities, making them suitable for a wide range of AIoT applications such as wake word detection and voice command recognition, face detection and recognition, smart home, smart appliances, smart control panels, smart speakers, and more. ESP32-S3-WROOM-1 uses a PCB on-board antenna, while ESP32-S3-WROOM-1U connects to an external antenna via a connector. Both modules are available in multiple variants. The modules are equipped with an Xtensa 32-bit LX7 dual-core processor operating at up to 240 MHz. The CPU power can be shut down, with a low-power coprocessor used to monitor peripheral state changes or whether certain analog values exceed a threshold. ESP32-S3 integrates a rich set of peripherals, including SPI, LCD, Camera interfaces, UART, I2C, I2S, infrared remote control, pulse counter, LED PWM, USB Serial/JTAG controller, MCPWM, SDIO host, GDMA, TWA controller, ADC, touch sensor, temperature sensor, timers, and watchdogs, along with up to 45 GPIOs. In addition, ESP32-S3 features a full-speed USB 2.0 On-The-Go interface for USB communication.
