Introduction
The DRV8847 device is a dual H-bridge motor driver suitable for industrial applications, household appliances, ePOS printers, and other electromechanical products. This device can be used to drive two DC motors, a bipolar stepper motor, or other loads such as relays. With a simple PWM interface, it can be easily connected to a controller.
The DRV8847 device is powered by a single power supply and supports a wide input power supply range of 2.7V to 18V. The output stage of the driver consists of N-channel power MOSFETs configured as two full H-bridges for driving motor windings or four independent half-bridges (located at independent bridged interfaces). A fixed off-time controls the peak current in the bridge, which can drive a 1A load (in parallel mode at 25°C TA, it can drive a 2A load under proper heat dissipation conditions).
A low-power sleep mode is provided to achieve lower quiescent current consumption by turning off a large number of internal circuits. In addition, an included torque scalar can dynamically adjust the output current through a digital input pin. This feature can reduce the current required by the controller to achieve lower power consumption.
Various internal protection functions are also provided, such as undervoltage lockout, overcurrent protection for each FET, short-circuit protection, open-load detection, and overheat protection. Fault conditions are indicated by the nFAULT pin. The I2C device version (DRV8847S) provides detailed diagnostics.
