Introduction
The ultra-low-power microcontrollers (MCUs) of the MSP430 series are equipped with different peripheral sets to meet the needs of various applications. The architecture can be used in conjunction with five low-power modes and is optimized for extending battery life in portable measurement applications. The device features a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and a constant generator that helps achieve maximum coding efficiency. The digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) can wake up from low-power mode to active mode in less than 6µs.
The MSP430F13x, MSP430F14x, and MSP430F14x1 MCUs support two built-in 16-bit timers, a fast 12-bit ADC (on MSP430F13x and MSP430F14x devices), one USART (on MSP430F13x devices) or two USARTs (on MSP430F14x and MSP430F14x1 devices), and 48 I/O pins. A hardware multiplier improves performance and provides a device family solution with a wide range of models and code and hardware compatibility.
