Introduction
The TPS92411 is a 100V floating MOSFET switch used in offline LED lighting applications. This device is used in conjunction with a current regulator capable of achieving a power factor greater than 0.9 to build an LED driver solution with low ripple current. When properly designed, the solution performance is similar to that of traditional flyback buck or boost-based AC/DC LED drivers. This approach eliminates the need for inductor components, thus reducing size and saving costs. The controlled switching and low-frequency operation of the TPS92411 switch can generate ultra-low EMI. Package options include Small Outline Transistor (SOT) 23 - 5 and PSOP - 8, which allow users to optimize for small size or scale for high power. With the PSOP - 8 package, it is possible to design LED light sources up to 70W or higher. Other features include an Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO) circuit for monitoring when the device has sufficient voltage for normal operation, and overvoltage protection (TPS92411P).
Features
- High-performance solution for driving LEDs from AC power supplies
- Simplifies phase-dimmable LED driver design with high power factor, low THD, and low current ripple
- Suitable for LED light sources with power up to 70W and above
- Input voltage range: 7.5V to 100V
- Stackable 100V, 2Ω MOSFET building blocks
- Controlled switch turn-on and turn-off transitions minimize EMI
- Designed for use with TPS92410 or discrete linear regulators
- Input undervoltage protection
- Output overvoltage protection (TPS92411P)
- Low IQ: 200μA (typical)
Applications
- LED lights and bulbs
- LED light source spotlights
