The SN75LVPE801 is a general-purpose single-channel SATA Express signal conditioner that can support a maximum data rate of 8 Gbps. This device supports the SATA Gen 1, 2, and 3 specifications as well as PCIe 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. It operates with a single 3.3V power supply and is equipped with a 100Ω line termination resistor with self-biasing characteristics, suitable for AC coupling. The input terminal includes an out-of-band (OOB) detector, which can automatically suppress the noise at the output terminal when the input differential voltage is lower than the threshold while maintaining a stable common-mode voltage. In addition, the device is designed to handle spread spectrum clock (SSC) transmission according to the SATA standard. The SN75LVPE801 handles the interconnection loss at its input through optional equalization settings and can be programmed to match the loss in the channel. For data transmission rates of 8 Gbps and below, it can provide signal equalization for FR4 circuit board materials up to 50 inches long. For a data transmission rate of 8 Gbps, the device can compensate for FR4 materials up to 40 inches long. The equalization level can be controlled by setting the signal control pin EQ. There are two de-emphasis levels to choose from on the transmission side, which can provide additional high-frequency loss compensation of 0 dB or 1.2 dB for the output terminal. This device supports hot-plugging and can prevent the device from being damaged in case of hot insertion (e.g., asynchronous signal insertion/removal, insertion/removal without power, insertion/removal with power, or accidental insertion/removal). The SN75LVPE801 is a single-channel equalizer and redriver. The device operates over a wide range of signaling rates, supporting operation from DC to 8 Gbps. The wide operating range supports SATA Gen 1, 2, 3 (1.5 Gbps, 3.0 Gbps, and 6.0 Gbps respectively) as well as PCI Express 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 (2.5 Gbps, 5.0 Gbps, and 8.0 Gbps). The device also supports SATA Express (SATA 3.2), which is a form factor specification that allows for SATA and PCI Express signaling over a single connector.
