Introduction
The TPS54229E is an adaptive on-time D-CAP2™ mode synchronous buck converter that provides system designers with a low-cost, low component count, and low standby current solution for designing power bus regulator suites across a variety of end equipment. The main control loop employs D-CAP2™ mode control, achieving fast transient response without external compensation components. Adaptive on-time control enables seamless transition between PWM mode at higher load conditions and Eco-mode™ operation at light loads. Eco-mode™ allows the TPS54229E to maintain high efficiency under light load conditions. In addition, the TPS54229E's proprietary circuitry enables the device to use low equivalent series resistance (ESR) output capacitors such as POSCAP or SP-CAP, as well as ultra-low ESR ceramic capacitors. The device operates with an input voltage range of 4.5 V to 18 V, with output voltage programmable between 0.76 V and 7 V, and supports adjustable soft-start time. Available in an 8-pin DDA package, designed for an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
