Introduction
The TPS61097A-33 provides a power supply solution for products powered by single, double, and triple-cell alkaline, NiCd, NiMH batteries, or single-cell Li-Ion and lithium polymer batteries. These devices can also be used in equipment powered by fuel cells and solar cells, making them particularly useful for handling low input voltages. The available output current depends on the input-to-output voltage ratio. When powered by a single Li-Ion or lithium polymer battery, the device can deliver up to 100mA of output current at a 3.3V output voltage. The boost converter is based on a current-mode controller that achieves maximum efficiency using synchronous rectification. The maximum average input current is limited to 400mA. Battery consumption can be minimized by disabling the converter. During shutdown, connecting the battery to the load enables backup battery support for critical load functions. The device is available in a 2.8mm×2.9mm 5-pin SOT-23 package (DBV).
