Introduction
YT9218MB is a high-performance 8+2 port Gigabit Ethernet switch controller in an LQFP176 E-PAD package. It integrates eight PHY ports supporting 1000Base-T/100Base-TX/10Base-Te, plus two additional MAC ports for specific applications supporting 2500BX/SGMII/1000Base-X/100Base-FX/RGMII/MII/RMII. The device also incorporates a built-in RISC-V microprocessor. The integrated Gigabit PHY complies with IEEE 802.3 standards for 10Base-Te, 100Base-TX, and 1000Base-T, and supports Motorcomm proprietary LRE100-4 features, enabling the device to auto-negotiate and establish connections with LRE100-4-compliant link partners for extended cable length applications up to 400 meters at 100Mbps over Cat5e cables. The YT9218MB's extended GMAC1 and GMAC2 support xMII or SerDes interfaces for connecting external PHYs, MACs, external CPUs, or RISCs in specific applications. xMII refers to RGMII, MII, and RMII. SerDes supports IEEE 100Base-FX, IEEE 1000Base-X, and IEEE 2500Base-X. The YT9218MB integrates a 4K lookup table using an efficient hash algorithm for address lookup and learning, with each entry also configurable as a static entry. It supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN with a 4K-entry VLAN table, providing port-based, VLAN translation, flow-based, and protocol-based VLAN classification, with MAC-based and IP subnet-based VLAN also supported via configuration. IVL, SVL, and IVL/SVL are supported for flexible network topology architectures. The YT9218MB supports standard 802.3x flow control frames in full-duplex mode and an optional back-pressure mechanism in half-duplex mode. It determines when to invoke flow control mechanisms by checking system resource availability and supports broadcast storm control. To support flexible traffic classification, the YT9218MB supports 383 hardware-entry ACL rule checks with multiple action options. These 383 entries consist of 48 rows with 8 entries per row. To support long rules, the 8 entries in each row can be combined in any manner for rule extension. ACL rule checking can be individually enabled or disabled per port. ACL rule keys can be based on a packet's physical port, Layer 2, Layer 3, and Layer 4 information. When an ACL rule matches, the action can be configured as drop/permit/redirect/mirror, change the priority/DSCP value in 802.1q, and perform rate policing.
