Introduction
The INA180, INA2180, and INA4180 (INAx180) current-sense amplifiers are designed for cost-optimized applications. These devices are part of a family of current-sense amplifiers (also known as current shunt monitors) that sense the voltage drop across a current-sensing resistor over a common-mode voltage range of –0.2V to +26V, independent of the supply voltage. The INAx180 integrates a matched resistor gain network supporting four fixed-gain options: 20V/V, 50V/V, 100V/V, or 200V/V. This matched gain resistor network minimizes gain error and reduces temperature drift. All devices operate from a 2.7V to 5.5V single supply. The single-channel INA180 draws a maximum supply current of 260μA; the dual-channel INA2180 draws a maximum supply current of 500μA, and the quad-channel version draws a maximum of 900μA. The INA180 is available in a 5-pin SOT-23 package with two different pin configurations. The INA2180 comes in 8-pin VSSOP and WSON packages. The INA4180 is available in a 14-pin TSSOP package. All device options are rated for an extended operating temperature range of –40°C to +125°C.
