Introduction
The B5/Q5 toxic/combustible gas detectors employ multiple sensing technologies to detect a wide range of gases. These devices are housed in NEMA 4X-rated plastic enclosures to meet the most demanding application requirements. All models feature an internal clock, an LCD display for viewing gas concentration and adjusting settings, LED status indicators, a built-in buzzer with three user-configurable relays, and multiple communication protocols for use with our gas controllers or your building management system. Factory-calibrated sensor modules are field-replaceable — simply remove two screws from the previous module for easy swap-out. After reinstalling the replacement sensor module and allowing warm-up time, all device functions and calibration should be verified. Users may optionally set a password to protect system integrity. The Q5 can operate as a standalone gas detector or communicate with the Q4C, M-Controller, or Q-Controller via the proprietary RS-485 Optomux communication protocol. The B5 communicates directly with building automation systems (BAS) using the BACnet™ MSTP (RS485) protocol. ACI also offers a full line of horns and strobes for use with gas detectors or building management systems to alert building occupants during an alarm condition. Before using these products, refer to all applicable federal, state, provincial, and local health and safety regulations. The Q5/B5-GENL can be ordered for monitoring specific combustible gases such as gasoline, ethanol, diesel, or jet fuel. Contact ACI for specific gas inquiries.
