Introduction
The NTE74HC273 is an octal transparent D-type latch in a 20-pin DIP package. When the latch enable (LE) input is HIGH, the Q outputs follow the data (D) inputs. When LE is LOW, the Q outputs are latched at the logic levels present at the D inputs. The buffered output enable (OE) input can be used to place all eight outputs in either their normal logic states (HIGH or LOW) or a high-impedance state. In the high-impedance state, the outputs neither load nor drive the bus lines significantly. The high-impedance state and enhanced drive capability allow bus lines to be driven without interface or pull-up components. OE does not affect the internal operation of the latches. While the outputs are in the high-impedance state, old data can be retained or new data can be entered. To ensure the high-impedance state during power-up or power-down, OE (active LOW) should be connected to VCC through a pull-up resistor; the minimum value of the resistor is determined by the current-sinking capability of the driver.

Introduction
