Introduction
FNK - LT12 single-mode fiber transceiver provides a low-profile, cost-effective solution for Gigabit Ethernet and 1x Fiber Channel fiber data links, featuring a duplex LC connector interface. These transceivers are fully compliant with IEEE Gigabit Ethernet and ANSI 1x Fiber Channel standards, but may be used for any other data communication purpose within their operating parameters. The transceiver consists of transmit and receive functions integrated in a low-profile RJ module. The optical transmitter is a high-output 1310 nm FP laser. The transmitter input lines are driven by differential LVPECL signals applied to the transmit {TX+ and TX-} pins. These signals are internally converted to appropriate modulation current by a CMOS IC. The optical transmitter can be disabled by applying an LVTTL signal to the Transmit Disable (TDIS) pin. The optical receiver consists of a PIN and preamplifier assembly along with a CMOS limiting post-amplifier IC. The receiver output includes differential CML data signals on the receive {RX+ and RX-} pins, and a Loss of Signal (LOS) single-ended LVTTL signal on the LOS pin. When LOS is asserted, RX data is suppressed (JAM) to prevent garbage data from being output in the absence of an optical signal.
