Introduction
The NTE3100 interrupter module consists of a gallium arsenide infrared LED and an NPN silicon phototransistor, housed in a polycarbonate enclosure. The package is designed to optimize mechanical resolution, coupling efficiency, ambient light rejection, cost, and reliability. Its operating principle is that an object opaque to infrared light will interrupt the optical transmission between the infrared LED and the photosensor, switching the output from the "on" state to the "off" state.
