Introduction
The ACPL-312T device contains an AlGaAs LED. This LED is optically coupled to an integrated circuit with a power output stage. This automotive optocoupler is ideally suited for driving power IGBTs and MOSFETs used in automotive motor control inverters and DC-DC converter applications. The high operating voltage range of the output stage provides the drive voltage required for gate control devices. The voltage and current provided by these optocouplers make them well suited for directly driving IGBTs rated up to 1200 V/100 A. For higher-rated IGBTs, the ACPL-312T series can be used to drive a discrete power stage that drives the IGBT gate. Avago's R²Coupler isolation products deliver the enhanced insulation and reliability required for critical automotive and high-temperature industrial applications.
