The ADuM3223/ADuM4223 are 4 A isolated half-bridge gate drivers that use iCoupler technology to provide independent and isolated high-side and low-side outputs. The ADuM3223 provides 3000 V rms isolation in a narrow-body 16-lead SOIC package, while the ADuM4223 provides 5000 V rms isolation in a wide-body 16-lead SOIC package. These isolated devices integrate high-speed CMOS with monolithic transformer technology, offering superior performance characteristics over alternative solutions such as pulse transformer and gate driver combinations. The ADuM3223/ADuM4223 isolators each provide two independent isolated channels. These devices operate from a 3.0 V to 5.5 V supply voltage, ensuring compatibility with low-voltage systems. Compared to gate drivers using high-voltage level-shifting approaches, the ADuM3223/ADuM4223 offer true galvanic isolation between the input and each output. Each output can sustain a continuous operating voltage of up to 565 V peak relative to the input, enabling low-side switching to negative voltages. The differential voltage between the high side and low side can reach up to 800 V peak. As a result, the ADuM3223/ADuM4223 can reliably control the switching characteristics of IGBT/MOSFET configurations across a wide range of positive or negative switching voltages.
