The LMC555 is the CMOS version of the industry-standard 555 series of general-purpose timers. In addition to standard packages (SOIC, VSSSOP, and PDIP), the LMC555 is also available in a chip-scale package using TI's DSBGA packaging technology (8-bump DSBGA package). The LMC555 has the same ability as the LM555 to generate precise time delays and frequencies, but with much lower power consumption and power-supply current spikes. In monostable mode, the time delay is precisely controlled by a single external resistor and capacitor. In astable mode, the oscillation frequency and duty cycle are precisely set by two external resistors and a capacitor. The use of TI's LMCMOS process extends the frequency range and low-power-supply capability. The LMC555 is available in 8-pin PDIP, SOIC, VSSOP, and 8-bump DSBGA packages.
