The TPS2597xx series of electronic fuses is a highly integrated circuit protection and power management solution in a small package. Such devices require only a few external components to provide multiple protection modes and can very effectively withstand overloads, short circuits, voltage surges, and excessive inrush currents. A single external capacitor can be used to adjust the output slew rate and inrush current. The load can be protected from input overvoltage conditions by clamping the output to a safe fixed maximum voltage (selectable via a pin) or by cutting off the output when the input exceeds an adjustable overvoltage threshold. Such devices respond to output overloads by actively limiting the current or disconnecting the circuit. Users can adjust the output current limit threshold and the transient overcurrent blanking timer. The current limit control pin also serves as an analog load current monitor. The devices are available in a 2mm × 2mm 10-pin QFN package, designed to improve thermal performance and reduce system size. These devices are rated for an operating junction temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
