Introduction
The AD5764 is a quad, 16-bit, serial-input, bipolar voltage output DAC that operates from ±11.4 V to ±16.5 V supplies. The nominal full-scale output range is ±10 V. It incorporates output amplifiers, reference voltage buffers, power-on/power-off control circuitry, and a digital I/O port that is programmable via the serial interface. Each channel features digital offset and gain adjustment registers. The AD5764 is a high performance converter that is monotonic with ±1 LSB INL, very low noise, and a settling time of 10 μs. During power-up, as supply voltages ramp, VOUTx is held at 0 V through a low impedance path. The AD5764 uses a serial interface capable of operating at clock rates up to 30 MHz, compatible with DSP and microcontroller interface standards. Double-buffering allows simultaneous update of all DACs. Input coding is programmable as twos complement or offset binary. An asynchronous clear function resets all data registers to bipolar zero or zero scale, depending on the coding used. The AD5764 is ideal for closed-loop servo control and open-loop control applications. It is available in a 32-lead TQFP package and is guaranteed over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
