Introduction
HTC1740 is a high-brightness LED display driver control IC with strong drive capability, integrating an MCU digital serial interface, data memory, and LED control driver module. Fabricated in CMOS process, it is primarily designed for high-brightness small-to-medium LED display driving. The circuit incorporates clock reset, serial interface, digital control, SEG output, GRID output, and ESD modules. Controlled via the serial interface, it implements three register groups: display control, display mode, and status control. Features include a built-in RC oscillator, 16-level adjustable output current, and 16-scan adjustable digit drive. The chip enable/disable and LED display on/off can also be controlled through the serial interface. In the ESD module, every pin has ESD discharge paths to both VCC and GND. HTC1740 is a high-brightness LED display panel driver IC based on the I2C protocol, supporting up to 8-segment × 16-digit output. The number of scan digits is configurable via registers to achieve higher per-point drive current. The display data registers store HTC1740 data, with addresses ranging from 00H to 0FH — a total of 16 bytes — corresponding to the LED matrix connected to the SEG and GRID pins. On initial power-up, the status control register (i.e., 12H) must be configured to 01H to bring the circuit into operating state. The register write sequence is: status control → display data registers → display mode register → status control register.
