The device incorporates an on-chip Σ-Δ fractional interpolator, enabling programmable modulus fractional-N division. The INT and FRAC registers form a combined N divider (N = INT + (FRAC/2^25)). The ADF4158 supports FSK and PSK modulation. Multiple frequency sweep modes are available to generate various waveforms in the frequency domain, such as sawtooth and triangular waves. The ADF4158 features a cycle slip reduction circuit that further shortens lock time without modifying the loop filter. All on-chip registers are controlled via a simple 3-wire interface. The device operates from a 2.7 V to 3.3 V supply and can be powered down when not in use.
