Introduction
The DFRobot URM13 is an ultrasonic ranging sensor featuring an open single-transducer design. It supports TRIG pulse-triggered ranging (SR04-compatible), UART, and I2C, enabling greater flexibility for real-world applications. The sensor is compact and small, compatible with 3.3V or 5V platforms such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi, making it easy to use and integrate into a wide range of applications. In addition, UART mode adopts the standard Modbus-RTU protocol and integrates a transceiver control output, allowing users to easily extend an RS485 interface using an external RS485 transceiver. The URM13 is positioned as a professional, advanced ultrasonic sensor. A new precision circuit design combined with an intelligent detection algorithm enables a smaller, lighter form factor while maintaining high sensitivity. Meanwhile, the URM13 can automatically detect environmental and electrical noise, performing dynamic adjustment and real-time calibration of sensor parameters to ensure stable performance across various complex application scenarios. The URM13 offers two built-in measurement ranges to meet different application requirements: 1. Short range of 15 ~ 150cm with a maximum detection frequency of 50Hz, suitable for indoor robot obstacle avoidance and similar use cases; 2. Long range of 40 ~ 900cm at 10Hz with high sensitivity, suited for open-field scenarios or projects requiring high precision and long-distance measurement. Both detection ranges can be triggered repeatedly in actual use to achieve full-range measurement.
