Introduction
KEMET ESD-rated commercial and automotive-grade X7R dielectric surface mount capacitors are designed for applications where ESD events during assembly or operation may damage capacitors or circuits. These ESD-rated capacitors are designed to withstand ESD levels per the Human Body Model (HBM) AEC Q200-002 standard. KEMET automotive-grade capacitors also meet the stringent AEC-Q200 qualification requirements of the Automotive Electronics Council.
The X7R dielectric has a maximum operating temperature of 125°C and is considered "temperature stable." The EIA classifies X7R dielectric as a Class II material. These components are fixed ceramic dielectric capacitors suitable for bypass and decoupling applications as well as frequency discriminator circuits where Q and stability of capacitance characteristics are not critical. The capacitance of X7R dielectric is predictable over time and voltage, with minimal change compared to the value at 25°C. Capacitance change is limited to ±15% over the temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.
