Introduction
The A89503 is an N-channel power MOSFET driver capable of controlling MOSFETs in a half-bridge configuration, designed for automotive applications with high-power inductive loads such as brushed DC motors, BLDC motors, VR/SR motors, solenoids, and actuators.
A unique charge pump regulator provides full gate drive for most applications over the complete supply voltage range of 5.5 to 80 V. A bootstrap capacitor supplies the above-battery voltage required by the N-channel MOSFETs.
Each MOSFET can be controlled independently via logic-level inputs or through an SPI-compatible serial interface. Fully independent control allows both external FETs to be turned on simultaneously.
Integrated diagnostics indicate multiple internal faults, system faults, and power bridge faults, and can be configured to protect the power MOSFETs under most short-circuit conditions.
In addition to providing full access to bridge control, the serial interface is used to modify programmable settings such as VDS thresholds and fault blanking times. Detailed diagnostic information can be read via the serial interface.
The A89503 has been developed in compliance with ISO 26262 as a hardware safety element with ASIL B capability (pending assessment) for integration and use in automotive safety-related systems as specified in the applicable safety application notes and datasheet.
The A89503 is available in a 24-pin eTSSOP package (suffix LP). The package is lead-free (Pb), with 100% matte tin leadframe plating (suffix –T).
