Introduction
Broadcom's ACHS-719x (±10A to ±50A) is a fully integrated, Hall effect-based isolated linear current sensor designed for AC or DC current sensing in industrial, commercial, and communications systems. Each ACHS-719x IC contains a precise, low-offset linear Hall circuit with a copper conduction path located near the surface of the die. Current flowing through this copper conduction path generates a magnetic field, which a differential Hall sensor converts into a proportional voltage. Due to the close proximity of the magnetic signal to the Hall sensor, the device's accuracy is optimized across the full operating ambient temperature range. The low-offset, chopper-stabilized CMOS Hall IC delivers a precise proportional voltage and is accuracy-programmed after packaging. As current increases (flowing from pins 1 and 2 to pins 3 and 4, the path used for current sensing), the device output has a positive slope (> VOUT(Q)). The typical internal resistance of this conduction path is 0.7 mΩ, enabling low power dissipation. The terminals of the conduction path are electrically isolated from the signal pins (pins 5 through 8). The device is offered in a compact surface-mount SO-8 package and complies with worldwide regulatory safety standards.
