Introduction
The MSMLG5.0A–MSMLG170CA and MSMLJ5.0A–MSMLJ170CA series high-reliability transient voltage suppressors protect circuits against voltage spikes up to 3000 W (10/1000 μs model pulse). The SMLG gull-wing design in DO-215AB package allows visible solder joints. The SMLJ J-bend design in DO-214AB package enables higher PCB mounting density. Available types include unidirectional and bidirectional versions as well as RoHS-compliant versions. These devices offer multiple upscreening options for enhanced reliability. They protect against lightning secondary effects as defined by IEC61000-4-5, as well as voltage pulses generated by inductive switching environments and RF-induced radiation. Due to their nearly instantaneous response time, they can also be used for protection against electrostatic discharge and electrical fast transient bursts as specified in IEC61000-4-2 and IEC61000-4-4.
