Introduction
The XCL230/XCL231 series is a compact, inductor-integrated 36V, 600mA step-down DC/DC converter combining a control IC and coil in a single package. The integrated coil simplifies PCB layout and minimizes failures and noise caused by component and routing placement. With an input voltage range of 3.0V to 36V and a switching frequency of 1.2MHz, the series employs a synchronous rectification circuit to deliver stable, high-efficiency power output. The XCL230 series uses PWM control at a fixed operating frequency to suppress output ripple voltage. The XCL231 series automatically switches between PWM and PFM control, reducing losses at light loads by lowering the operating frequency, thereby achieving high efficiency across the full load range from light to heavy load. A built-in 0.75V reference voltage allows the output voltage to be set from 1.0V to 5.0V via external resistors. The internal soft-start time is set to 2.0ms, and a longer soft-start time can be freely configured using a resistor and capacitor connected to the EN/SS pin. Built-in overcurrent protection and thermal shutdown protection ensure safe operation under conditions such as short circuits.
