Description
The HMC8073 is a 6-bit DSA operating from 0.6 GHz to 3.0 GHz with 31.5 dB attenuation range in 0.5 dB steps. Implemented in silicon, this attenuator features fast settling time, low power consumption, and high ESD robustness. The device incorporates glitch-free state transitioning, enabling attenuation state changes without overshoot, and is optimized for excellent step accuracy, high power handling, and high linearity across frequency and temperature. The RF input and output are internally matched to 50Ω, requiring no external matching components. The design is bidirectional, with interchangeable RF input and output ports. The external address feature of the HMC8073 allows users to control up to eight DSAs over a single bus. The DSA includes an on-chip regulator supporting a wide supply voltage range of 3.3 V to 5.0 V with no performance variation in electrical characteristics. The HMC8073 uses a CMOS- and TTL-compatible interface for serial (3-wire) control of the attenuator. The HMC8073 is available in a compact, RoHS-compliant 3 mm × 3 mm LFCSP package.
